Audition Safety Tips That Everyone Needs to Know

Audition Safety Tips That Everyone Needs to Know

Our members' safety is our number one priority. That's why we have a dedicated, full-time Customer Success team who check every casting call on ModelFactory.

Did you know we don't publish every casting call submitted to us? When appropriate, we ask questions, request background information, and decline casting calls that don't meet our guidelines. We use sophisticated software to monitor content and to help ensure everyone using our site works within our community guidelines.

Unfortunately, not everyone in this world has the best intentions, so we also want educate members on how to look after themselves. Read on for our tips on how to stay safe and don't hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns about something you've seen on our site.

5 Tips for a Stunning Modelling Portfolio.

1. Trust your instincts.

If something seems suspicious or too good to be true, then it probably is. Be wary of anyone who claims they will make you a star overnight.

2. Don't send money.

Just don't. Most legitimate auditions do not have fees.

3. Do your research.

Google the company or person you're auditioning for. Look at any websites that come up and check them thoroughly for anything that doesn't seem legit. Google the location of the audition. If it's in a hotel or bar, or at someone's house, that should raise some red flags.

4. Check the details.

Scammers will often give themselves away by making small mistakes.

If you receive an email about an audition, check the email address carefully. It should be from the same domain as the company's website. For example, our domain is ModelFactory.com – you will only ever be contacted by ModelFactory staff with an email address ending in @ModelFactory.

Other things to look out for are poor spelling and grammar, vague offers with no specific details, and people contacting you through apps like via WhatsApp or Snapchat.

If you're contacted by someone that you're not sure about, please let us know. Do not reply to the person directly.

5. Take someone with you.

Always take a friend, parent or colleague with you to an audition. If something's not right they'll be there to back you up. They can also help calm any nerves, help you run lines while you're waiting and you can celebrate together if you get the role!

6. Don't be afraid of saying 'no'.

You don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with. Don't be afraid to say no or leave an audition if you don't feel safe. At the end of the day your safety and peace of mind is more valuable than any role.
