What Size Jeans Do Models Wear? | What Jeans Size Do Model

1. Can You Explain A Bit What A Fitted Model Is?

modelfactory

The way I describe a fit model to most people, basically I am a living mannequin. I try on clothing before the production of the garment and during the development of the clothing line for each season. This helps the company's design and technical team visualize the fit and flow of materials on the actual body presented to the customer to get an idea of how they want the final product to look. It is important for designers that, as opposed to body/tailor form, the fitted model gives very valuable feedback about all fit, nature of fabric, and if riding, etc. A fit model is a female/male with a well-proportioned body which is the industry standard measurement.

2. To many who believe that the fashion industry bases clothing sizes and that size zero is appropriate for runway models, what do you have to say? And what are your measurements?

It's so funny when I hear most of the opinions about what a model should look like, or how "size zero" most models should be. It's very different in this industry. A perfect fit model usually fits in jeans for sizes 4-6/5-7/27-28. I'm suitable for size 27 jeans, size 5/7 Junior or 4/6 Contemporary, depending on the brand. My height is 5'7″ and I weigh 124lbs. My measurements are 34 1/2″ bust, 26.5″ waist, 37″ hips. (Many fitted models average around a size 6 for women, as this is the average size for most clothing brands from sizes 0-12. There are many denim brands in the Los Angeles market that can fit a size 26 to sample (for ) is more attractive to buyer's eyes to see the shorter line in the sample. Then for production companies fit 27-28 because its average size is 23-32. Additionally, there are male, child, teen, plus size, and even maternity fit models.) The average size fitted model for men is 32 medium.

3. How Did You Get Into Fit Modeling

I actually started my career as a fashion designer. I went to FIDM, learned everything from designing, technical, pattern making to clothing manufacturing. After being in this field for 4 years, I started joining agency along with freelancing to start some fit modeling (as I would get fit in the companies where I worked)…Watch I left. Then my new job started. Now from last 8 years I am fit for full time modeling. I have never had the privilege of working with such amazing companies and great people!!

4. Give  Us An Idea of What Your Average Day is Like

I have a schedule set, however some days I have some room to fill in accounts that don't fit into the schedule in the week. An average day for me usually starts at 845 in the morning. Although I have a few accounts, I'll start at 715 a.m. (it all went well). I usually don't work more than 530 pm. Although what is always wanted and necessary, I work at any time. (I also fit into the designers' house, my own home, and weekends... not typical though). Most of my days are back to back and I only make time for driving. Each company varies, but a fitted model is booked in as little as an hour. Although some companies fit 3 hours at a time. Many changes will be made to the garment during the design process. A fitted model will often be recalled several times to fit the same garment as we make adjustments, this will continue until we are happy that we have achieved the right fit for our client.

5. You work with the technical design department in most companies, how do you feel you are treated and do you think there are ways to make the relationship more productive and successful?

I feel that my opinion is highly respected and very valuable as with all relationships in my career. My clients listen to what I have to say about Apparel and try to reach them through their thoughts and feedback and use this to their best advantage to reach them. With my technical background and design experience I am able to provide more detailed feedback and commentary on the little details that make all the difference. Finding the right fit model is always a challenge. Maybe your client is shorter and shorter than average, or maybe he's curvy, maybe a little shorter and shorter and narrower in chest and more straight in the hips.

The company must know who their customers are. The most important and valuable thing about a well-fitted model is being consistent, professional, on time, and taking your job as seriously as possible. A fitted model should always know what brand they are working for (i.e. who they are, what they are known for, who buys their line, etc.). Knowing this lets you know how things should look and fit. To always keep your career and relationships respectful and professional and distinctive.

6. What's The Best Thing About Being A Fit Model?

The best thing about being a fit model, (besides the pay check) is knowing that you are part of the company's success. That's what makes me happy. Some added benefits are being able to buy at employee discounts or being especially lucky when customers gift you pieces of produce. As well as seeing new trends and styles in front of the public, then a few months later to see what fits you best in a store. I am very particular about how clothes fit me and knowing that I will always be able to find the perfect fit is amazing. Since my fit is also the industry standard, luckily I find it easy to buy other clothing lines as well.
